I often ask my students if they ride because I liken writing to horses. Don't resist them, just sit in the saddle and move with them. Also a writer must read to hone their craft, I say, I've never met a jockey that won't get on a horse. You can't have one without the other!

The magic journal
When beginning my novel The Incomparables, I picked this journal, spine first off a book store shelf, turned it around and there it was the title of my novel, in French, just waiting for me to fill the blank pages. Quite something!

Quarry by Catherine Graham
This sophomore novel published and edited by me went on to win an Independent Publisher's Gold Medal Award and The Mirimachi Review's best novel of 2018.
Someone Like You by Aileen Santos
This novel by a former student of mine Aileen Santos was the first book my press published. And when I started the press, I knew that this was the book I wanted to begin with. Aileen is a very natural, special writer and this novel is an empowering and moving read.
